Face Off! Celebs Au Naturale

We are used to seeing Lady Gaga with a ton of outlandish makeup to match her equally wild wardrobe, but what do you think about the October Harper’s Bazaar cover set to hit newsstands September 27th featuring the young starlet bare faced and au naturale? I think she looks great, and I love how she’s putting herself out there in her most raw form.

Check out these other photos of celebs without makeup on. Although their naked faces caught by paparazzi weren’t an intentional statement like Gaga’s Bazaar cover, it still goes to show that celebs in their natural, unglamourous state (without the help of a stylist or makeup artist) look a lot more like you and me. How refreshing!

You’re not perfect, and that’s okay!

Hey everyone!

Do you ever have those days when you feel less than perfect? When you flip through magazines and wish you could look as gorgeous or as handsome as the models and celebrities that grace the pages of People, Vogue, Glamour, or Cosmo?

They’re not as flawless as you think.

Those images are photoshopped and create an unrealistic and warped representation of reality that a lot of young, impressionable people aspire to.

No bueno.

I mean, I’m a model, so my photos are edited too, and I’m aware of that. I think the important thing is for people to realize that the images they see are not 100% the real deal.

Check out these before and after photos of male and female celebrities and models to see what I mean.

Female Celebrities

Brittany Murphy. Skin smoothed over, color corrected, and eyes brightened.

Penelope Cruz. Cleaned up hairline and smoothed skin.

Kristen Stewart. Closed her mouth, smoothed skin, and got rid of under-eye circles.

Geek to CHIC–my story

“To look almost pretty is an acquisition of higher delight to a girl who has been looking plain for the first fifteen years of her life than a beauty from her cradle can ever receive.”
-Jane Austen

I haven’t always been a model. I haven’t always been confident and ready to take on the world. I used to be a shy girl that hid behind her glasses and homework and tried not to get noticed.

But how did I change from the tall nerdy girl in class to a model in the fashion industry? Here is my story (cue the dramatic violin music).

Vegas, baby!

In a previous post I mentioned that I was going to Vegas for PROJECT, a huge fashion trade show event at the Mandalay Bay convention center for my Showroom Seven internship. Well, I’m back from that trip now, and here is how it went:

Day One (Sunday)

Lauren Conrad was on my flight to Vegas. Whaaaaaaaaaaat?!? The Lauren Conrad? From the MTV reality show The Hills? I know right? So random. But awesome. She was wearing a cute oversized knit sweater and some jeans. I sat a few seats behind her and her two fashionista friends.

The flight was super quick, and within an hour, we were already in Vegas. I took a shuttle straight to the Mandalay Bay to help the Showroom Seven team set up the booths in the convention center. Once we got everything looking perfect, we took our separate ways and settled in to our hotel rooms to relax a bit before dinner.

I stayed at the Signature at MGM Grand along with Rebekah, a sales rep from Showroom Seven New York. Our suite was amazing! It had a kitchenette (stove top and everything!), a tub with jets, a TV in the bathroom, an iPod alarm clock, and a phone next to the toilet (I personally wouldn’t want to call anyone from the toilet, but it’s still cool to have the option).

After much deliberation, we decided to go to the Diablo’s Cantina for dinner. Rebekah and I walked there from our hotel because we didn’t feel like waiting in a long taxi line. We met up with some people there and I ordered enchiladas, my favorite. With food coma from stuffing our faces, we went back to our hotels and crashed for the night. Read the rest of this entry »

My Indentured Servitude, I Mean Internship

I’m just joking. I love my internship. Really.

Some of the stuff in the showroom

I’ve been an intern at Showroom Seven in Downtown Los Angeles for over a month now. What the heck is Showroom Seven you ask? Well, it’s a fashion showroom that has both a sales and a public relations/press department (Seventh House PR). The sales part sells brands like Denimocracy, Odd Molly, Liebeskind, and Leigh & Luca at wholesale to stores and boutiques, while the public relations/press part of the showroom loans clothes and accessories (like Charlotte Ronson, Twenty Cluny, Issa, Farah Khan, GUiSHEM, or B-Low the Belt) to celebrity stylists for photo shoots or special appearances and events.

Selena Gomez in Twenty Cluny, Lauren Conrad in Farah Kahn, and Brittany Snow in GUiSHEM

Celebrities like Christina Aguilera, Rashida Jones, Kate Middleton, Kristen Stewart, Nicki Minaj, and a ton more have worn clothes from Showroom Seven. They borrow a top, dress, belt, or whatever it may be, then return it when they’re done with it. Kinda like checking out a book from the library. Sweet huh? Read the rest of this entry »

I Heart _______

“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” — Robert Brault

1. Orchids

Photograph by ifsantag2

So gorgeous and exotic, orchids give me the warm and fuzzies inside.

2. Playing the piano

Photograph by NellyNel1

I learned to play the piano when I was 7, but later on I taught myself pieces like Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata and Mozart’s Fantasie in D Minor. I like sad, tragically beautiful songs.

3. Fresh Orange Juice

There is something so satisfying about drinking a glass of natural fresh orange juice straight from the fruit…yummm! So good. Way better than the store bought stuff.

Fall Trend Forecast

Pattern and texture mash-ups, color blocking, parkas, a revisiting of the 60’s, polka dots, and the androgynous tuxedo.

I don’t follow trends religiously, but I do like to piece together my own interpretation of them according to my personal style. For example, I’m not a huge fan of mixing crazy, super colorful prints or textures, but I love neutral colors, which helps to tone the trend down enough to be workable for me.

Here are the trends as seen on the runway:

Left to right: Rodarte, Balenciaga, Max Azria, Bottega Veneta, Marc Jacobs, Acne

And here is my interpretation:

1. Pattern and texture mash-ups

Using neutral colors and working with all warm tones or all cool tones makes more sense when it comes to throwing different prints or textures together.

Missoni for Target Sneak Peek!

Fashion blogs have been squealing with unconstrained excitement ever since they found out that Target’s next great collaboration is with the oh-so-coveted Italian brand Missoni. Eeeeeeeek!

I like your face…

Hey there!

I think your face is awesome. No really. Your face is pretty sweet.

It’s hard for me to believe that I’m a model now–you should have seen me about 3 years ago–but that’s a whole different story. I’ll tell you guys about that later. Promise. 🙂

So…how about you check out my face in these photos? They’re some of my favorites in my portfolio.

I really wanted to jump on the bed, but I would've hit my head--or twisted my ankle.

I have a thing for black and white photos.

"I'm watching you."
